  2. Purpose • Primary means of controlling inhalation exposure • Designed to retain vapors and gases • Serves as a barrier to fires, flying objects, chemical splashes, small implosions and explosions • Can contain spills

  3. Safe Operation • Keep the sash closed when not working at the hood • Hoods are not intended for chemical storage • Do not allow objects such as paper to enter the exhaust ducts • Do not put your head inside the hood when experiments are being performed
