  4. 3GPP2-WLAN IW Phase II Architecture • Support both scenario 3 and scenario 4 functionality. • Support packet data access using Simple IPv4 & IPv6, Mobile IPv4, and Mobile IPv6. • Support packet data access using a secure IP tunnel between MS and 3GPP2 system • Define a new logical network entity called Packet Data Interworking Function (PDIF) which among other things will serve as a tunnel termination point in 3GPP2 home or visited system. • Service authorization and mutual authentication between PDIF and MS shall be performed over the established secure tunnel between MS and 3GPP2 system. Basic EAP authentication is assumed to be successful prior to tunnel establishment. • Minimal impact to the existing PDSN interfaces or functionality (e.g., R-P interface) • Support roaming. • Support route optimization in IPv6.
