  1. Guru Nanaks Birthday In our project we are going to show how this festival is celebrated and why its celebrated. Our project will include detailed information about this festival with pictures to help explain the harder parts.

  2. How it is Celebrated The founder of Sikhism was Guru Nanak, the festival is celebrated because of the birth of Guru Nanak. Guru Nanak Sahib (the First Nanak and the founder of Sikhism) was born on 15th April, 1469 at Rai-Bhoi-di Talwandi in the present area of Shekhupura (in Pakistan), now Nanakana Sahib. The Birthday of Guru Nanak Sahib happens on Kartik Puranmashi: full moon day of the month Kartik. On this day thebirthday is celebrated every year. The Gurdwararepsesenting the home of his father Baba Kalu and mother Mata Tripta is called Gurdwara Janam Asthan, situated at Rai-Bhoi-di-Talwandi in the area of Shekhupura (now Nanakana Sahib in Pakistan). The Sikhs from all over the world gather there and celebrate the Gurupurab every year with great devotion and enthusiasm. <~ This is a picture of Guru Nanak and the 10 gurus.
