Where did she first did the international run • At a young age, Eillidh Child was encouraged by her sister at a young age to run. Instead, she took up swimming and won back-to-back Scottish Under-13 School titles in the butterfly. After finally joining a local athletics club, it did not take Eilidh long to become an international age group star.
Eilidh child sport • As a youngster, Eilidh won the U13 Scottish Schools butterfly swimming title two years in succession. One of her sisters is a writer, the other used to compete at triple jump and her brother is a footballer.
Education • Eilidh Child is one of Britain’s top female hurdlers. She set the Scottish Under-23 (U23) record in the 400 meter hurdles in 2008 and finished third at the 2008 Olympic trials. • She placed second in the 400 meter hurdles at the 2009 European U23 Championships and earned a spot to compete at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin. • This year she made the final at the European Championships in Barcelona and set a new Scottish Record of 55:16 at the Diamond League meeting at Crystal Palace. • In addition to excelling on the track, Eilidh works as a Physical Education teacher.
