8. Day 2 Look to the white EQ Wall for what you will learn today. Think about your EQ: How do I choose a topic to write about? Understand the standard you will be measured by today. Today in Writing Workshop you will focus on this writing strategy: Responding to narrative topics with the plot roller coaster.

What clues does the author give you? • Guided Practice: (Table groups with drive by conferencing as needed) • Mark up the text in Reader’s Journey page 32 • Look at the examples of exposition and climax • Independent Practice: RJ “War of the Walls (pg.32-40) • Mark up the text through identifying. underlining, and marking in the margins to analyze plot development. • CFU: Identify elements of a story’s rising climax by marking up the text and completing the plot rollercoaster diagram for “The Rules of the Game.”
