  2. 1. The impersonal passive contruction in English is as follows. Meat is sold at the butcher shop.

  3. 2. In Spanish the pronoun se can be used to express the impersonal passive voice. Note that if the subject is singular, the verb is singular. If the subject is plural, note the verb is plural.The 3 part construction is-Se+verb+subject

  4. We don’t know WHO sells…so the subject is the WHAT they are selling!Se vende carne.= Meat is sold hereSe vendenlegumbres. = Vegetables are sold here**Ellosvenden carne. = They sell meat.

  5. 3. Se can be used to convey (or translated as) the general subject, one, they, and people.

  7. Fish is sold. • Se vendepescado.

  8. Sweaters are sold. • Se vendensuéteres.

  9. A sweater is sold. • Se vendeun suéter.
