  2. What you need to know… • Activities you like to do and activities you don’t like to do. • How to ask others what they like to do.

  3. Vocabulary • Words you should probably, most definitely know:

  4. Grammar • Infinitives: • The most basic form of a verb. • The “un-conjugated” form of a verb. • When you have a verb in English and the word “to” before it, that is an infinitive • to swim, to run, to write. • In Spanish, we have 3 kinds • -ar, -er, -ir

  5. Grammar • Negatives: • To make a sentence negative in Spanish, you put no in front of the verb or expression. • To answer a question negatively in Spanish, your sentence is often set up like the following: • No, no __________ .

Grammar • Me gusta/ No me gusta: • To express that you like something, you use the phrase “Me gusta.” • To ask someone if they like something, you ask the question: Te gusta ______? • Key things to keep in mind- • Me gusta- I like • Tegusta- You like • Le gusta- He/She/You(Usted) like • Nosgusta- We like • Les gusta- They like/ Y’all like

  8. What you need to know… • How to talk about personality traits. • Ask and tell what people are like. • Use adjectives.

  9. Vocabulary • Adjectives-

  10. Grammar • Adjectives: words that describe a noun • In Spanish, most adjectives end in a letter o or a letter a. The O means masculine and the A means feminine. • We put an O at the end of an adjective to describe a masculine noun. • We can substitute the O with an A in order to describe a feminine word. • Adjectives that end in E can describe both. • Adjectives ending in DOR are masculine, but you add an A to make it feminine. • Lastly, words that end in ISTA do not need to be changed.

  11. Grammar • To describe yourself- • We use the verb SER. • SER means “to be” • I am- Yo soy • You are- Tueres

  12. Grammar • Definite articels- “the” • We use el and la in Spanish. El is for masculine words and la is for feminine words. • Indefinite articles- “a” or “an” • We use un for masculine words and we use una for feminine words.

  13. Grammar • Words order: Placement of Adjectives SUBJECT + VERB+ INDEFINITE ARTICLE/NOUN+ ADJECTIVE Ex.- Pablo es un estudianteinteligente.

  18. Grammar • Subject Pronouns • The person/thing doing the action. • Yo- I • Tu- You • El/Ella/Usted- He/She/You(formal)- Name or object • Nosotros- We • Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes- They/Y’all- Multiple names or objects.

  19. Grammar • Present tense –AR verbs • Largest group of verbs. • To conjugate, you take off the –AR and then add the correct ending.
