  2. The aim of theexperiment is synthesize on of common pain relievers aspirin, To determine the punty of the aspirin.

  3. Why you esterfication salicylic acid ?

  4. Procedure:- 1- weigh out 2.0 g of salicylic acid . place it in a125- ml erlenmeger flask. 2-Add 5 ml of acetic anhydride swirl the flask to wet the salicylic acid crystals. 3- Add 5 drops of can centrated sulfuric acid , h2 so4 , to the mixture 4-Gently heat the flask in aboiling water both ofr about 10 minutes . 5- Remove the flask from the hot water both and add 110 ml of deionized ice water to decompose any exess any excess acetic anhydride

  5. 6- Chill the solution in an ice bath until crystals of Aspirin no longer form, stiring occasionally to decompose residual acetic anhydride. If (oil) Appears instead of a solid, reheat the flask in the hot water bath until the oil disappears and again cool. 7-Filter the liquid under vacuum and wash with 15 ml of cold water.
