  2. Today’s Questions • 1. What book of the bible is our lesson from today? • 2. What are burdens? • 3. how do I deal with burdens?

  3. Today’s Bible Verse • "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."  Matthew 11:28 [NIV]

  4. How strong are you? • Do you think you are pretty strong?   • How many of you think you could pick up this brick?  

  5. How about a dumbbell like this one? 

  6. Well, you must be pretty strong then. 

  7. How many of you think you could pick up a car?

  8. Oh, you don't think you could pick up a car?  

  9. Well, I think you could if you had some help.  

  10. Here is something that would help you.   It is an automobile jack.  

  11. Can’t do it alone • If you put this jack underneath the car and pump the handle, you can easily lift a car that weighs over 3,000 pounds!   • Yes, with the help of a jack, you can lift a car, but you couldn't do it alone, could you?

  12. Burdens • Some of you have some pretty heavy burdens to carry in life. • Perhaps you have a physical handicap that makes your life difficult.

  13. Parent’s burdens • Or, perhaps your father has lost his job and your family is having financial difficulties.  

  14. Worries • Maybe someone in your family has cancer or some other serious illness and you are worried about them.

  15. Your Burdens • You may be having a hard time making passing grades in school. 

  16. Life’s Burdens…Your not alone • I don't know what the burdens are that you have in your life, • but I do know that there are some that you just can't handle by yourself.  

  17. Your Not Alone!!! • Well, guess what?   You don't have to!

  18. Jesus said, • "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest."

  19. God Promises • There is no reason for you to struggle with burdens that are too heavy for you.   • God's Word is full of promises to help us in times of trouble. 

  20. Gen.26:24  • Here are just a few:  • "Don't be afraid, I am with you."  

  21. Psalm 28:7 • "I'll give you strength."

  22. Psalm 34:6 • "I'm with you in times of trouble."

  23. Just What We Need • These words of encouragement are just what we need to face the hard times that may come our way.

  24. What Does All This Mean? • Does that mean that if we will ask him, God will take all of our troubles away? 

  25. God Knew • God knew that the enemy would try to bring burdens and struggles on the earth.

  26. God is Our Armor • Ephesians 6:11 says, “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

  27. Believe and Rest • Jesus walked the example for us to follow. • when Jesus walk on earth, He had to deal with the devil too. He trusted in his father. He defeated sin for us.

  28. Have Faith • If we believe in Jesus, and let our Father carry the burdens, he will give us rest. He can turn those burdens and struggles into good. We will grow and are strengthen in his works and grace. There is no burden that is too heavy for our Lord.

  30. Prayer • Dear Father, we are thankful that when we struggle under the load of life's burdens, you are there to help us carry the load.  In Jesus' name we pray.   Amen.
