  2. He was the god of, -Thanatos was the god or daimon of non-violent death. -Thanatos plays a prominent role in two myths. Once when he was sent to fetch Alkestis to the underworld, he was driven off by Herakles in a fight. Another time he was captured by the criminal Sisyphos who trapped him in a sack so as to avoid death. touch was gentle,

His origin, • -Thanatos is actually a Greek god. • -His Greek name is Θανατος. • -Thanatos was a son of Nyx (Night) and Erebus; and twin of Hypnos (Sleep). • Along with his origin, came his appearance.In early mythological accounts, Thanatos was perceived as a powerful figure armed with a sword, with a shaggy beard and a fierce face. His coming was marked by pain and grief. • Thanatos is sometimes depicted as a young man carrying a butterfly, wreath or inverted torch in his hands. He has also been depicted as having two wings and a sword attached to his belt.

  4. His family background, -His touch was gentle, like his twin brother Hypnos (Sleep). Violent death was the domain of Thanatos' blood-craving sisters, the Keres, spirits of slaughter and disease. -Thanatos had no children.

  6. Facts and unfamiliar stories, -According to mythology, Thanatos could occasionally be outwitted, a feat that Sisyphus twice accomplished. When it came time for Sisyphus to die, he succeeded in chaining Thanatos up with his own shackles, thereby prohibiting the death of any mortal. -Once when he was sent to fetch Alkestis to the underworld, he was driven off by Herakles in a fight. -Thanatos is sometimes described as pitiless, making even the gods hate him, even though he cannot kill them since they are immortal.
