  1. «120 DAYS TO EQUIP HOSPITALS AND HEALTH CENTERS OF BENIN » An initiative of Professor Dorothée A. KINDE-GAZARD, Minister of Health July, 2012

  2. An initiative validated in Council of Ministers in its session of June 27th, 2012

  3. Our Goal, with the “120 days...” Initiative To equip Benin’s hospitals and health centers, within 120 days.

  4. This Initiative requires the availability of all those who conduct it. • For this reason, the mediation cell will exclusively devote to it, in order to allow committee members to continue to provide public services.

  5. Origin of the “120 days...” Initiative • Some observations made during our tours across the country. • The lack of materials/equipments in health facilities.

  6. The absence of materials/equipments in some locations. • The obsolescence of equipments/facilities, wherever they exist.

  7. Statements leading to the “120 days...” Initiative • Mismatch, in several places, between needs of diagnostic and existing equipments. • Approximate care.

  8. Public service mission unfulfilled. • Staff’s lack of motivation, in absence of working tools. • Decrease productivity, due to declining attendance.

  9. The “120 days...” Initiative’s Concept • Simple, based on the collection of medical materials / equipments. • Materials / equipment needs are already identified and listed by Specialty. • Materials / equipment s’Reference, are already known and identified in the catalog you will soon.

  10. The Ministry of Health does not wish to receive funds from donors to acquire medical materials / equipments. This, for two reasons :

  11. The cumbersome procedures for procurement would not allow us to finalize the whole process in 120 days. • The unfavorable environment for raising funds.

  12. The “120 days…” Initiative’s Implementation To lead the project: • A ministerial committee is set up, and will work on different phases of the operation. • An independent monitoring/evaluation/ reporting committee will be involved all the time on the project.

  13. The “120 days…” Initiative’s Expectations • We are asking donors to : • Assist and support the Initiative • To be part of the health development of our country • To be part of the health development of our country • To be a link with other donors

  14. In a morose national context, solidarity remains the cornerstone for the balance of people. Our society can only grows, if it progresses in solidarity and humanity. • I count on each and all to make this Initiative a success.
