TECHNICKÁ UNIVERZITA V KOŠICIACH An attempt for SWOT Strengths: • Expertise in given scientific areas • Networks of partners, representation in EU bodies • Experience in proposal writing and “EU fundraising” • Project management approach/skills • Experience in EU projects (incl. user driven approach, business models/plans, market intelligence, …) • Existing research teams / “seeds” Weaknesses: • Uneven distribution of the “Strengths” within TUK • Limited innovation activities, technology transfer • Immature university-industry collaboration, contract research/mission oriented research • Better in cooperation on EU level than in collaboration with local companies(?)

TECHNICKÁ UNIVERZITA V KOŠICIACH An attempt for SWOT (2) Opportunities: • Foster university-industry “dialogue” • Develop project-based collaboration (funded from EU and other sources) • MINERVA • Develop an “IT Centre of Excellence” in the Kosice region Threats: • a “common language” not found • … missing the next train to Knowledge society (or, even worse - missing, too many next trains :-(
