  1. What to Consider What to Consider W When Buying Luxury Watches hen Buying Luxury Watches You love the design, the colour, those tiny little gears whirring away to glory. But is that watch perfect for you? Read more about what to keep in mind when selecting your kind of luxury watch. Owning luxury watches has become a status symbol. If it is possible to represent your personality by wearing something, many would agree that only a watch could begin to justify and demonstrate the extent of individuality in ones personality. Whether your watch is bespoke or ready-to-wear, understanding the choices available when purchasing your first or next watch are very important. Here are some things to bear in mind when buying a watch: 1.The first point of call is the budget. In the case of luxury watches so much choice will only become stressful. With a budget, you can focus on watches which are within a spectrum, giving you a defined choice. luxury watches, the sky is the limit, and having

  2. 2. Your options can be further defined by identifying your lifestyle, in what environment will you wear the watch and what activities you would be participating in. For example, you would like a second time zone display (known as a GMT) if you travel a lot. If you enjoy sports, it would be recommended to look at sports watches, further refined by diving, flying or athletics. 3. The weight of the watch matters as well. If you intend to wear your watch on a daily basis, to the office for example, you may not want to carry a heavy watch on wrist, which tend to be chunkier with bezel sizes ranging from 38mm to 48mm. A lighter watch with a modern yet subtle design maybe better suited to you. 4. The material of the watch is key in the overall weight as well as how people perceive your personality. One of the modern day materials is PVD. Most watches in this material tend be on the more built and chunkier side, therefore naturally they are a little heavier. A more expensive, yet an even tougher alternative is DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating, which is even more resistant to scratches and abrasions. It also makes the case (if coated) more resistant to dents. On the other hand, metals like steel, gold, platinum and titanium are a little lighter on the wrist. 5. Watch movement also makes a difference based on your lifestyle. There are three main categories of movements: Manual/Mechanical, Automatic/Auto-Mechanical and Quartz movement. A watch with a mechanical movement gives you the most interaction with the watch - similar to how some prefer a manual car over automatic. With a Manual/Mechanical watch, it is the hand-winding that makes the watch run. When the watch runs out of energy produced by the hand-winding, the watch stops. In some cases, some manual wind watches can have more then a week -ong power reserve. If you buy a mechanical movement, be prepared to have it serviced every five years on average. Automatic watches wind themselves by the motion of the wearer. As long as there is movement, the watch will remain wound. Quartz movements are the most ‘computerised’. These watches are powered by a battery with very little maintenance required. Ninety five per cent of luxury with very few Quartz movements luxury watches watches are either manual or automatic,

  3. 6. One of the final considerations is the strap width. It is a small but aesthetically important detail. The color of the strap is something of a personal preference always, but the width of the strap should be considered inline with your current wrist size. If you have a broad wrist, think about having a narrower strap. It will give your wrist a sleeker appearance and allow for the focus to be on the watch piece itself. Likewise, if you have a narrow wrist, look at a broader strap, to give your wrist a more structural appearance while maintaining its sleekness.
