  1. Online Energy calibration inside TileCal RODs Belén Salvachúa TileCal Valencia Meeting Monday 27th August 2007 B. Salvachua

  2. Online energy calibration • Requirement: • Online calibration of the TileCal Energy in the RODs for 2nd level trigger input. • Types of calibration: • OnlineADCcounts: (plain ADC counts) • OnlinePicoCoulombs: (CIS calibration) • OnlineCesiumPicoCoulombs: (CIS + Cs calibration) • OnlineMegaElectronVolts: (whole calibration chain) B. Salvachua

  3. Online energy calibration • Linear calibration of the type: E [ calibrated ] = a ( b + E [ ADC ] ) b: Offset in ADC counts for all calibration types. a: Energy units conversion factor. • After 2nd level trigger energy can be offline uncalibrated in order to apply a more complicated offline calibration (if required). B. Salvachua

  4. From POOL to the RODs • Calibration constants will be stored in POOL files and inserted into the conditions database (same procedure as current the Optimal Filtering weights). • Read from POOL using: • TileC libraries (Karl) • TileUseDB (Belen) • TilePlugins (Carlos) • Calibration constants are converted on the fly to fixed-point numbers and included in the Optimal Filtering fragment to be uploaded to the ROD DSPs. B. Salvachua

  5. Output data format • New output data format needed to account for energy calibration. • New encoding and decoding of the online energy depends on: • Gain • Calibration energy units • 15-bits are assigned to encode the online energy. B. Salvachua

  6. Output data format details LOW GAIN: HIGH GAIN: B. Salvachua

  7. Status and Conclusions • New DSP version v13r2p2 used in M4 which contains: • online energy calibration mechanism (calibration constants for ADC counts are uploaded to the RODs) • new reconstruction output data format • New fragment type is created (type=4) • Athena decoder is ready (in CVS repository since Friday 24th Aug) • This changes will be validated using M4 data. B. Salvachua
