  2. Metaphor • A figure of speech in which a word or phrase literally denoting one object or idea is applied to another- suggesting a likeness or analogy between them. Example: This homework was a breeze. Cooler than a polar bears toenails.

  3. Personification: The attribution of human qualities to non human objects or ideas. Example: “And like the flowers beside them chill and shiver, will like the flowers beside them soon be gone” ~ Robert Frost

  4. Alliteration • Repetition of consonant sounds. Example: Crazy Car Crash

  5. Simile • A figure of speech in which a comparison between two unlike things. Usually using the words “like” or “as a” Example: As big as a bus As busy as a bee The snow is like a blanket
