  2. Pwy yw Dwynwen?Who is Dwynwen? • Santes Dwynwen yw’r Sant Ffolant Cymraeg, a chaiff dydd Santes Dwynwen ei ddathlu ar y 25ain Ionawr. Dwynwen yw sant cariadon Cymru. • Santes Dwynwen  is considered to be the WelshValentine's Day and is celebrated on 25th January. Dwynwen is the Welsh saint of love.

Pam bod Dwynwen yn SantesCariadonCymru?Why is Dwynwen the Welsh Patron Saint of Lovers? • Syrthiodd mewn cariad a Maelon Dafodrill, ond roedd ei thad wedi trefnu iddi briodi rhywun arall. • Rhedodd i’r goedwig a disgynnodd i gysgu. • Daeth angel i’w gweld yn cario diod felys ar gyfer dileu unrhyw atgof o Maelon, a’i droi mewn i floc o iâ. • She fell in love with Maelon Dafodrill, but her father had already arranged that she should marry someone else. • She fled to the woods and fell asleep. • She was visited by an angel, carrying a sweet potion designed to erase all memory of Maelon and turn him into a block of ice.

Dwynwen became a nun, fulfilling her wish to nevermarry, andleftfor the island of Anglesey to build a Church. This is referred to asLlanddwyn, literallymeaning "Church of Dwynwen". Remains of Dwynwen'schurch can be seentodayon the island of Llanddwyn, off the coast of Anglesey. The popularityandcelebration of St Dwynwen'sdayhasincreasedconsiderablyinrecentyears, withspecialeventsheldandgreetingscards sent.
