Course Objective • To enhance communication skills • To gain an appreciation for American Literature • To learn how to analyze writing and make personal connections

Tardies • Tardy students must wait outside the door for me to grant entrance into class . If you are over 15 minutes late, you will be counted absent. • Tardy Policy

New Grading Policy • Daily/Homework –60 % • Test/Quiz/Projects– 40 % • A = 90-100 C = 70-79 • B = 80-89 F = Below 70
Attendance & Make up Work • Make-up WorkIt is the student’s responsibility to request, complete and turn in make up work. • Students will not receive above a 70 for homework submitted with unexcused absences. • ISS/ DAEP (you must get your work)
Late Work This applies to major grades only 1st Day = 25 points deducted 2nd Day = 50 points deducted 3rd Day = a zero *No late work accepted for homework/daily work.

Presentation of Work • All assignments must be neatly written or typed • Written in blue or black ink • Follow heading format
Testing • You should expect about 2-3 teacher created tests per six week • Benchmark/other assessments (may be district or course level) will be administered to ALL students every 6 weeks.
Academic Honesty • Students are encouraged to do their original best • Disciplinary action will be taken against cheating
Tutorials Tuesday & Thursday 3:50 PM – 4:20 PM Or By appointment only
Common Discipline Rules • Dress Code • I.D. Badge • Be on time • No classroom disruptions • No fighting or aggressive behavior
