WHY? • Deficiencies in the transport of Dangerous Goods (DG) in the UK: • DG professionals have little/no supporting organisations • Few outside channels exist to maintain/enhance skills • No-one advocates for them • Expertise is increasingly being lost in the transport of DG • Some EU members states have organisations to support DGSAs • Other modes of transport do not even have DGSAs • ……..and because we don’t want any of this:

  5. BADGP is a professional body - BADGP is also an industry association- Members are individuals, not organisations- BADGP supports all modes of transport- International remit, with a UK base WHAT IS IT?

  6. 2008, DfT expresses caution about loss of expertise- Jan 2009, DfT calls a meeting- 1ST June 2010 (Meriden) a professional organisation is proposed by HSE, DfT, CIA, CBA, NCEC, CHCS, industry, transport…- 26th July 2010, at NCEC, BADGP is born WHEN?

VISION • What we want the future to hold • To have 2-way communication with UK gov’t… • …and 2-way communication with UN committees of experts • To play a positive role in EASA • To be valued by your employers • To be the place where YOU go for problem-solving and support • To have up-to-date facilities – website and interactive forum • To meet new faces and ideas
