Climax/Turning Point Plot outline for Julius CaesarAct I – Act II The conspirators arrive at Brutus’s house during the night. Brutus is now a significant leader in the conspiracy. Rising Action Brutus receives the “fake” anonymous letters that hint towards Rome’s need for Brutus to “speak, strike, and correct a wrong.” Brutus’s cause to protect Rome from Caesar’s threat has become a reality and a necessity to Brutus. Beginning/Exposition Brutus convinces himself that Caesar’s nature and power may turn dangerous if he is made king. Brutus has to look out for the best of Rome. He decides Caesar must die. Cassius persuades Casca to think the “monstrous signs” are warnings that Caesar is monstrous and the “times” they are under are unfortunate and horrible for Rome. Casca joins the conspiracy. Major conflict introduced: Some Romans support Caesar, others fear Caesar’s ambition. Cassius appeals to Brutus’ honor and love for Rome. Cassius persuades Brutus to think of Caesar a threat to Rome. Cassius tells Brutus “Age, thou art shamed! Not one noble Roman exists.”

Senators & Tribunes Common People Characters & Roman Republic Julius Caesar – Dictator (NOT KING) Marc Antony is Caesar’s loyal friend Magistrates Cassius, Brutus, and other senators feel Caesar is a threat to the Roman Republic. They fear he may become a tyrant. They conspire to assassinate him on March 15. Love Caesar but showed disapproval when Caesar was offered the crown by Antony.
