  2. Qualcuno arrivò un giorno, tutto agitato, presso il saggio Socrate e gli disse: Ascolta Socrate, sai cosa ho saputo su un tuo amico?... Aspetta, rispose Socrate, prima di parlare, hai passato ciò che devi dirmi attraverso i tre filtri? Tre filtri? Sì, caro amico, tre filtri. Il primo è quella della verità. Hai verificato se ciò che hai da dirmi è vero? No, io l’ho sentito dire e...

  3. Bene, bene, ma indubbiamente l'hai fatto passare attraverso il secondo filtro, quello della bontà. Ciò che vuoi dirmi sul mio amico, è almeno qualcosa di buono? No, al contrario...

  4. Proviamo dunque a servirci del terzo filtro e domandiamoci se ciò che vuoi dirmi e che ti agita tanto, è almeno utile. non precisamente... Dunque, se ciò che vuoi dirmi sul mio amico, non è né vero, né buono, né utile, perché me lo vuoi dire? Io non voglio saperlo, e tu faresti meglio a dimenticarlo.
