The head of the Tourism Bureau feels that a new geologic travel map of their state will bring increased revenue dollars to the state. This map will be printed and distributed through the state and through local AAA offices, so clarity and excitement is critical to the map’s success as a tourist guide. Present on the map will be the following: Geology Major Cities Major Roadways Major Airports Railroads Geologic Features Location of Oldest Rock Location of Youngest Rock Location of 4 other unique geologic features Geologic Features can include: Volcanoes, Faults, Historic Earthquakes, Caves, Fossil Localities, Mineral Collection Localities, Geologic Museums, etc.

  5. Peer Review of Rough Drafts What was done on this map that is unique? What feature(s) on the map work really well? What feature(s) on the map work poorly? Are there any features on the map that do not work? Is there anything that could be done to improve the layout? What would you do differently if you had chosen this state/country? What did you do on your map that could help this author with their map?

  6. Self Evaluation of Final Map What were the top two things that you felt were wrong/not optimal with your rough draft? What were the top two things that you felt were right/optimal with your rough draft? Describe the changes you made from the rough draft to the final version? Identify the magnitude of the improvement between your rough draft and the final draft. Meaning quantitatively how much better is the final draft? What would you do differently (changes, additions, etc) if you had one more opportunity to update your map? If you were to grade your map, and nit-pic all the little errors and things that you see wrong with it, what grade would you give yourself on the final map.

  7. How Well Does it Work? POSITIVE: Student Experiences Peer Review Session Self Evaluations In-House Printing Capabilities POTENTIAL CHANGES New Map Requirements New Presentation Requirements

  8. Maps: The Good The Bad And the Ugly (Not Necessarily in that Order)
