She was born in Ojo de Agua, Salcedo, Dominican Republic. Her given name was Bélgica. Her full name was Bélgica Adela Mirabal. She was the only survivor out of her four sisters.

Interesting Facts About Her • In her late sixties in 1994, she was a successful life insurance agent. • When she was little she was always good at math and business. • She is married to Jamitio and have three children with him, until there divorce in the 1980’s. • In the 1980’s she also survived brest cancer. • <http://www.answers.com/topic/in-the-time-of-the-butterflies-novel-2>
