  2. I. 宾语的构成 (及物)动词和介词后可接宾语 1. 名词(短语) The president praised Yao Ming at the meeting. 2. 代词 They won’t hurt us. Can you tell the good apples from the bad ones? 3. 数词 If you add 5 to 5, you get 10. He enjoys playing table tennis. 4. 动名词 5. 不定式 He wished to get the job. 6. 从句 I really don’t know what I should do. He didn’t know when he could leave.

  3. Tell what is used as the Object. • Born in 1743, Joseph Banks played an important role in botanical research in the eighteenth century. (2) Even before going to Oxford in 1760, Banks showed an appetite for knowledge. (3) As a member of the Royal Society, the 25- year-old Banks paid 10,000 pounds for the equipment of the expedition. (4) The Royal Society gave him the opportunity he had been waiting for.

  4. (5) Do you know who else joined Banks on the expedition with Captain Cook in 1768? (6) In 1772 he went on an expedition with a fellow student. (7) He asked explorers to send him new plant species from around the world, which he included in the collection at Kew Garden. (8) He enjoyed spending hours in the greenhouses at Kew, among the strange plants from Southeast Asia.

  5. (9) The first “Tea Roses” from China came in a wide variety of pink tones, and it was Joseph Banks who introduced them to England at the end of the eighteenth century. (10) As a reward for his contribution to botany, Joseph Banks had a flower named after him.

IV. 宾语从句的几点注意事项 • 介词的宾语从句不可用which或if来引导,而要用 • what, whatever, whether等疑问词来引导。 • He was worried about whether he has passed • the English examination. • 2) She was praised forwhat she had done. • 3) We are going to check whether/if the machine • is in good condition. 2.由that引导的名词性从句很少作介词宾语,只有在表示 “除……之外”的介词except, but, besides后能见到。 I know nothing about him except that he lives next door.

  8. 3. sure, certain, glad, sorry, pleased, happy, surprised等表示“情感”的形容词可跟宾语从句。 No one can be surewhat man will look like in a million years. I am extremely sorrythat I have troubled you so much.   9. 5. 宾语形式的特殊情况 1.只能接-ing form作宾语的动词: avoid, appreciate, admit, bear ,consider(考虑), delay, enjoy, escape, envy, finish, imagine, keep, mind, miss, practise, risk, suggest, stand 2.介词+-ing e.g. be interested in doing , be fond of doing doing sth. 3. allow/permit/forbid/advise sb to do sth.

  10. 4.含有介词 to的短语动词接 -ing look forward to pay attention to be / get used to lead to devote …to turn to stick to (insist on) object to get down to/set about 盼望 注意 习惯于 导致,通向 致力于 转向 坚持 反对 开始做某事
