TYPES OF HT 1-FUT- FOLLICULAR UNIT TRANSPLANT • Gold standard technique of HT • Also called as strip method • Advantages-1] 3-4 thousand follicles can be transplanted in a sitting so maximum area can be covered 2]density is not affected at all. Drawback- a very fine linear scar can be seen only when patient shaves his head.
Procedure of FUT • Harvesting ;is done from the occipital region of the head
Slivering of the harvested area is done • Individual follicles are separated from these slivers
Grafting of these individual follicle is done on the bald area

2-FUE FOLLICULAR UNIT EXTRACTION • Single follicle is separated directly from the scalp through a special hand piece. • Follicles are taken out from all over the scalp. • These follicles are then grafted into the bald area.
Advantages - Stitch less, scar less and bloodless. • Best for small and medium area. • Drawback -May require more than one session for large areas.
3-BHT: Body hair transplant • This procedure is just like FUE method except that the follicles are taken out from the body parts like chest which has abundance of hair. • Advantages: (1)Very good for the patients who doesn’t have very good donor area on the scalp. • (2) Can be used in combination with FUT and FUE • Drawback: Little expensive than FUT& FUE
4-OTHER TYPES • Hair transplant is also possible in other parts of the body like Eyebrows Mustache Beard In all these transplant, extraction of follicles is done by FUE method.
BIO FIBERS • These are the biologically tested synthetic fibers • Used in patients with less or no donor areas. • Can also be used for patients who are not willing for surgery. • Also can be used for patients who are not fit for surgery.
Procedure • Few fibers are grafted 7 days before the real procedure to rule out any allergic reaction. • These fibers are inserted in the bald area with the help of very fine needle. • A special type of bonding agent is used for their retention in the scalp. • The length of the fiber is adjusted according to patients requirement.
Advantages of Bio-Fibres • Immediate hair on the scalp no need to wait for follicle to grow. • No requirement for donor area. • No fear of surgery. • Fast procedure than hair transplant.
Disadvantages of Bio-Fibres • Costlier than Hair Transplant. • 8-10% fibers lost per year. • Some patient may be allergic to the material of the bio fibers.
