  4. Wholesale Voice Market In 2001, cross-border voice traffic was 116 billion MOUs. International PSTN traffic rose just 10% in 2001, the slowest growth rate in 20 years. IP telephony accounted for 5.6 billions MOUs in 2001, about 4.8% of the total traffic. 6. VoIP Technology Vendors • The lion share of this market belongs to large, established corporations that offer their products on a global basis. • It is expected to see some acquisitions of smaller players. • From a geographical standpoint, revenues for VoIP technology solution derive primarily from North America (70%), followed by Europe (42%), Asia/ Pacific (4%) and ROW (2%). 7. VoIP Technology • H.323 has been the mostly widely deployed standard for handling VoIP traffic. • Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) has become widely accepted as the next generation protocol for VoIP call delivery. • Look for a open settlement solution which supports traffic exchange and call settlement between different VoIP platforms. • AT&T Labs developed a solution based on open industry standard that achieves network interoperability and OSP-based solution. 8. Open Settlement Protocol (OSP) • Open Settlement Protocol (OSP) is an open standard client-server protocol for performing inter-network authentication, call routing, and usage recording. • OSP is crucial to the scalability and standardization of VOIP clearing and settlements. • Interoperability: • Independent of Call Setup Protocol - can work with H.323, SIP and future VoIP protocols • Unite fragmented market and allow the industry to focus on serving customer needs. • AT&T fully supports OSP development. 9. Where We Will Be Tomorrow AT&T Proprietary Use pursuant to Company instructions

  10. VoIP Market • VoIP will account for approximately 75% of world voice services by 2007. (Frost & Sullivan, 3/2002) • More broadband providers will get into offering flat-fee residential and small business services. • Due to a currently low ROI, the market will fail to attract a great deal of competition in the nearest future. 11. VoIP Technology • Development of next-generation services and products over the next 4 years is expected to become one of the major driving factors. • IP Telephony applications such as voice portal interfaces, web-enhanced conferencing, and IP-enabled call centers generated about 5 million minutes in 2001. • It is projected that they will reach 55.1 billion minutes in 2007. 12. Long Term Market Drivers • Cost Containment • Service Quality • Unique Applications • Globalization • Government VoIP Regulation • Technological Advancement for QoS • H.323 and SIP Standardization AT&T Proprietary Use pursuant to Company instructions

  13. Long-Term Market Drivers • Cost Containment: Clients focus on reducing costs, especially with international destinations that have typically been more expensive. • Service Quality: Critical factors for VoIP communications include latency and bandwidth. • Unique Applications: Applications that offer unique or differentiated service from standard voice or competitor products. AT&T Proprietary Use pursuant to Company instructions

  14. Long-Term Market Drivers • Government VoIP Regulations: In many developing countries, governments are actively trying to thwart the deployment and use of VoIP technologies. • H.323/SIP Standardization: Companies are looking to the future with SIP to deliver a better and faster voice call setup than H.323. • Globalization: As companies become global, the need for communications becomes crucial.
