  1. AL-ADLDIVINE JUSTICE MARCH 28, 2010 ITERMEDIATE RELIGION SARAH KASSIM

  2. AL-ADL  DEFINITION WHILE TAWHEED MEANS: BELIEF OF THE PERFECTION OF ALLAH (SWT) AL-ADL MEANS: BELIEF IN THE PERFECTION OF THE ACTION OF ALLAH (SWT)

  3. AL-ADL CONTINUED AL-ADL  MEANS DIVINE JUSTICE • We call Allah (swt) Aadil which means He NEVER does an ACT that may be UNJUST. In other words Allah’s (swt) ACTS are ALWAYS good.

  4. Us Humans One who does something wrong does it either because he or she is ignorant of its impact and consequences, because he or she is under the influence of some mistaken ideas, or perhaps one finds oneself forced to do so.

  5. Allah (swt) is: • All-Perfect, • All-Knowing, and • All-Capable.  Because of His perfection and limitless knowledge, He knows what would be best for every act.  Therefore, He will do what is best all the time.

  6. SCOPE OF DIVINE JUSTICE  The scope of Divine Justice can touch upon many points: • No Evil can come from Allah (swt) whatsoever • Allah, does not make people commit evil or mischief, yet He will PUNISH for their evil thoughts and deeds. • Nor can we think Allah will ill-compensate true believers, or reward them unfairly. • Allah will neither Punish unnecessarily, norgive less than what a person deserves.

  7. More About Allah’s Justice • Allah (swt) is STRICTLY JUST! • He compensates in a FAIR, EQUITABLE way • Forgives when He wishes to do so • Fulfills His promises FULLY and COMPLETELY.

  8. MORE ABOUT ALLAH'S JUSTICE • Allah's justice is perfect and absolute.  • He is fair in His judgment.  • This means He is never unjust to anyone.  • The Justice of Allah is an extremely important attribute.

  9. 4 Points Important About Allah’s Justice: • Allah never asks us to do things beyond our capacity.  He says in the Holy Quran (Surah  2:  Ayah  286): لاَ يُكَلِّفُ اللّهُ نَفْسًا إِلاَّ وُسْعَهَا لَهَا مَا كَسَبَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا مَا اكْتَسَبَتْ ALLAH DOES NOT PLACE A BURDEN ON A SOUL BUT TO THE EXTENT OF ITS ABILITY..

  10. 4 Points Important About Allah’s Justice: 2. Allah will hold us responsible for our actions only, and nothing else.

  11. 4 Points Important About Allah’s Justice: 3. Allah will not hold us responsible for actions of other people before us or after us.

  12. 4 Points Important About Allah’s Justice: 4. Allah will forgive us if we do something wrong and sincerely ask for His forgiveness. This is described in the Quran (Surah  4:  Ayah  40): إِنَّ اللّهَ لاَ يَظْلِمُ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ وَإِن تَكُ حَسَنَةً يُضَاعِفْهَا وَيُؤْتِ مِن لَّدُنْهُ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا VERILY, ALLAH DOES NOT DO INJUSTICE (EVEN) TO THE SLIGHTEST EXTENT, AND IF A GOOD DEED IS DONE, ALLAH WILL MULTIPLY IT AND GIVE OF HIS OWN A GREAT REWARD.

  13. Importance of Divine Justice • Allah (swt) sent us the Prophets, The Quran, and Ahlul Bayt to guide us to the right way, to get the Divine Justice of Allah (swt). • It is because the Divine Justice that Allah created the Heaven, Hell, Day of Judgement, and the Hereafter.

  14. Scope of Divine Justice DIRECTIVES OF THE PROPHET THE PROPHET TAUGHT MAN TO APPLY ALLAH’S DIRECTIVES HUMANS WILL BE JUSTLY JUDGED ON THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT THE RIGHTEOUS WILL BE AWARDED PARADISE MEN OF EVIL WILL BE PUNISHED IN HELL

  15. Every Act of Allah has a purpose • Allah is good and desires goodness for His creatures • Allah wants good, and desires goodness for His creatures. • Allah wants our good, and steers things & gives us alternatives so we can choose the BEST route towards HIM.

  16. ALLAH (swt) GIVES SEVERAL CHOICES (ALTERNATIVES) TO EVERY HUMAN DEEDMAN IS FREE TO CHOOSE: 1.  EXCELLENT CHOICE 2.  GOOD CHOICE 3.  FAIR CHOICE 4.  BAD CHOICE 5.  EVIL CHOICE • THEREFORE MAN WILL EARN EITHER PARADISE OR HELL

  17. So Why is There so Much EVIL? • As we said, Allah does what is: FAIR and PROPER We were created with certain qualities

  18. AN EXAMPLE: • Man is created sinless; when a baby is born, it is created completely SINLESS.

  19. As the baby grows and matures, He/she can choose the way they want to follow.

  20. This could be the Path of Goodness, nobility and integrity OR The BAD Path of EVIL

  21. Following and having Faith in ADL Divine Justice…does not matter whether we are RICH or POOR. • Allah (swt) is looking for the GOOD & the ONE that follows the Guidelines of ISLAM. • Therefore we must be generous, kind, loving & have a good heart.

  22. Allah’s Creations • Allah (swt) did not create everyone the SAME.

  23. Continued • If He would have done this: • No one would do anything, • We would not Improve ourselves, • Work for the better, • Nor depend on each other • (Think of the different Professions… Doctors, Teachers, Engineers, etc…)

  24. An Example of this is: • THINK OF A CLOCK & THE DIFFERENT PARTS ON A CLOCK

(160) Whosoever cometh with a good deed for him shall be 10 like it; & whosoever cometh with an evil deed shall be recompensed not but with the like of it, and they shall not be dealt with unjustly.

  26. Meaning in Simpler Terms • A person shall get 10 points of credit for every act of goodness and sometimes it’s left open to more….. BUT For ONE Sin it Equals minus 1 point from the account….will not exceed punishment. Will be limited only to evil you did WHY?

  27. Because of GENOROSITY • Allah (swt) is Generous (Tafathol) FOR 2 REASONS: • If one does good, good will return with something much better and rewarding and valuable. Allah’s passion is limitless, He has mercy on us, He created us to give us…. (Allah Akram al Mukrameen ) more generous than anyone on Earth. Allah is forgiving.

  28. 2. Allah always encourages us to do more…. • (an example of this is….During Ramadhan, when reading the Quran…1 ayah = 1,000 ayah’s)…

  29. Lesson to Learn From Al-ADL • Having faith in Adl (Divine Justice) transcends the differences between the rich and the poor, the strong and the weak, which are transitory and insignificant in the eyes of Allah.  The rich man should neither be conceited, nor the poor man depressed.  Nobility of character and piety should be the hallmark of the blessed.  Nobility and goodness of character along the guidelines of Islam is what counts in the eyes of Allah.

  30. Continued •   Those who believe in Adl (Divine Justice) must therefore be just and fair, for this virtue means character of goodness, humility, generosity, love, kindness, and greatness of heart. • Laws and injunctions given in the Holy Quran and Sunnah of Muhammad (pbuh) are based on the basis of divine justice.  Therefore Divine Justice for the most part deals with Divine Commandments and jurisprudence.
