  2. Objectives •  Identify and apply toolbar features of Read and Write Gold •  Identify ways to implement Read and Write Gold with students

  3. Read & Write Gold – What is it? • Software to help with reading, writing, studying, and research tasks. It is easy to use and builds confidence and independence. The support tools available for use at school, work, or home. • Customizable toolbar to keep students active, engaged and independent.

  4. Who would benefit from RWG? • Students in K-12 • Students struggling to keep up the demands of college • People the Workplace • English Language Learners • Anyone

  5. Overview of session • Reading/writing toolbar basics • Study skills/Vocabulary/Quizlet.com • Each feature will have a demonstration, time to practice, and time to reflect on application of the feature with students in your subject and/or grade level.

  6. Reading practice • Select a website (that students may use) • Activity on page 2

  7. Reflection • On a word document: • If you were to go back to your classroom tomorrow, how would you apply the reading and writing features shown? • Take two minutes to write down your thoughts.

  8. Study skills practice • Demonstrate using highlighting • Activity on page 25 & 26 • Select a topic and break it down into three categories

  9. Reflection • On your reflection word document: • If you were to go back to your classroom tomorrow, how would you apply the study skills features shown? • Take two minutes to write down your thoughts.

  10. Vocabulary study skills • Practice • Activity on pages 27 & 28 • Keep your list for next activity

  11. Reflection • On your reflection word document: • If you were to go back to your classroom tomorrow, how would you apply the vocabulary features and/or quizlet shown? • Take two minutes to write down your thoughts.

  12. Wrap-Up • Complete session evaluation form • Read and Write Gold should be on all Teacher computers. If not, contact Brigid Knipp. • Middle Schools and High Schools should be on all computers.
