  2. About Me • My name is Joseph Molnar • My Email is jmolnar@edinboro.edu • My web page is http://users.edinboro.edu/jmolnar • I will be holding office hours from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. in Ross Hall 155 Mondays through Thursdays

  3. About the Course • I would like to run the course in a similar fashion to a standard class with a few differences. • I will be preparing PowerPoint presentations for each section of the book and posting them on my web page for the class. This will give a minimum pace for the progression through the topics and a view of what I feel is important. • The Hawkes Learning Systems software which you will be using has a practice section for each topic also which I would suggest that you do to help with the topics.

  4. About the Course • I will be posting a few homework problems on D2L and the class web page. • The Hawkes Learning Systems software has the bulk of the homework assignments which you will need to do.

  5. Course Description • This course, which is not intended for mathematics majors, introduces the basic concepts of statistics through intuitive approaches and stresses applications. • Topics include descriptive measures, elementary probability, sampling, hypothesis testing, and estimation. • Prerequisites: Any Math course 104 or higher, or an acceptable placement score.

  6. My Thoughts • This course is designed to enable you to use and understand statistics in your various fields of study. • It would help in your understanding of the topics if you can relate each to some task or area that you are doing or studying outside of the course. • Please see the syllabus posted on the class web page.

  7. The Big Problem • There will be two exams given in this class to assess your knowledge of the material • You may either take the exams on campus. Or you may take the exams off campus with an approved proctor. • In either case, I need to know your intentions as soon as possible. • Please see the calendar on the class web page.

  8. The Bigger Problem • This course runs for 31 days. • You need to keep a steady pace to avoid being overwhelmed. • Please note that the calendar suggests a minimum pace for the class. If you can go faster then do so.

  9. Conclusion • I hope that this class is useful for you. • I hope that you stay in contact with me through Email or by stopping by during office hours.
