This project, led by Dave Milham, aims to validate interconnection gateways within the OSS framework by evaluating commercial OSS products. Key objectives include ensuring interoperability and security, focusing on ordering processes as defined by TMF World Ordering. The study will feature European case studies on number portability and carrier pre-selection, progressing through feasibility stages and vendor engagement. The plan includes testing in selected laboratories and comprehensive evaluation phases to improve interconnect capacity and streamline service operations.

Capacity Carrier Pre-selection Project Objectives • Evaluate Commercial OSS gateways • Inter-operability • Security • Focus on Ordering ( TMF World Ordering) • European Case Studies • Number Portability • Carrier Pre-selection • Interconnect Capacity Ordering
Current Plan • Feasibility stage -31st May 1999 • Select Two Case studies by evaluation of benefits • Engage vendors and seek commitment • Scope the testing work Functional /non functional • Establish numbers and locations of Laboratories • may not use the PET lab model • May use vendor sites • Execution Phase - June 99 to Oct 2000
Current status • Setup and Kick-off held • Initial meeting with vendors • Integrated Security with case studies • Plan to progress after Prague workshop • Simplified project task structure c.f. PPD • Recognises limited number of task leads • Add complication if required after feasibility phase • Liaison with TMF planned
Tasks • T0,1 Project Management and Dissemination • T2 Phase 1 Feasibility scoping & selection • T3 Case Study A, including Security • T4 Case Study B, including Security • T5 Laboratory evaluation and testing • T6 Gateway evolution XML, HTTP-NG,...
Learning Points • Focus on area of: • Interconnection Directive • Ordering • Vendors need early wins • Vendor products should save ~2.5 years • Cannot cover specific back-end OSS integration matters
