CNN Dominates Convention Coverage Ratings Among Key Viewer Demographics

CNN's convention coverage from 7 PM to 12 AM ranked #1 among viewers aged 25-54, 18-49, and 18-34, outpacing cable news competitors. Averaging 1.3 million viewers in the 25-54 demographic, CNN led Fox News Channel by 10% and MSNBC by 80%. Among younger audiences, CNN secured 1.2 million viewers in the 18-49 category, surpassing FNC by 31% and MSNBC by 99%. Additionally, CNN attracted 493,000 viewers aged 18-34, showing a remarkable increase of 63% compared to FNC and 81% compared to MSNBC.

CNN’s combined Democratic & Republican Convention 7p-12a coverage ranked # 1 among P25-54, P18-49 and P18-34 viewers versus its cable news competitors. • CNN averaged 1.3 million P25-54 viewers for 7p-12a over seven nights* of convention coverage, beating FNC by 10% and MSNBC by 80%. • CNN secured even greater wins among younger demos P18-34 and P18-49. CNN averaged 1.2 million P18-49 viewers, topping FNC by 31% and MSNBC by 99%. • CNN delivered 493k P18-34 viewers, up 63% vs. FNC and 81% vs. MSNBC. • For the crucial 10p hour during convention coverage, CNN beat ABC & CBS affiliate coverage in addition to cable news among key younger demos: P25-54, P18-49 and P18-34.
