Love Within the Home. A Sacrificial Love. Jesus gave Himself for the church. Jesus gave himself. (Eph 5:25) Jesus gave himself for us. (Eph 5:2) The blood of Christ purifies our conscience from dead works. (Heb 9:14)

  1. Love Within the Home

  2. A Sacrificial Love • Jesus gave Himself for the church. • Jesus gave himself. (Eph 5:25) • Jesus gave himself for us. (Eph 5:2) • The blood of Christ purifies our conscience from dead works. (Heb 9:14) • Jesus became the sacrifice, the offering for our sins. He did this for us because He loved us.

  3. A Sacrificial Love • In like manner, a husband's love for his wife must be of a sacrificial nature. • As Jesus' loved the church, so too should a husband's love be sacrificial. • “In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies.” (Eph 5:28)

  4. A Sacrificial Love • The wife should follow the husband's example of sacrificial love. • The children should learn from their parents a love that is willing to make sacrifices for the ones whom they love.

  5. A Love that Provides • Jesus' love is a love that provides. (Eph 5:26-27) • Jesus is the author of eternal salvation. (Heb 5:9) • Jesus purchased the church with His own blood. (Acts 20:28) • Jesus provides guidance. (1 Pet 1:22-25; Rom 1:16)

  6. A Love that Provides • Jesus made no physical provisions for the church, for His body. Jesus provided that which was most important: The salvation of our souls.

  7. A Love that Provides • A husband should love his family enough to provide for his family. (Eph 5:28-29) • A husband should provide spiritual training. (ex. Eph 6:4) • A husband should provide a righteous and holy example. • A husband should also work to provide for his families physical needs.

  8. A Love that Provides • From the father's example, each member of the family should likewise learn the responsibility of helping to provide for the needs of their fellow family members. (cf. 1 Tim 5:8)

  9. A Love that Forgives • In dying for the church, Jesus made possible the forgiveness of sins, but it is the heavenly Father who sets for us the example of forgiveness.

A Love that Forgives • The father's love should be a love of forgiveness. • The father must first show the family how to repent and ask for forgiveness. • Show the family how to put forth fruits worthy of repentance. (cf. Matt 3:8) • Show the family how to ask for forgiveness. (cf. Matt 5:23-24; 6:9-15)

  11. A Love that Forgives • The father can then show the family the necessity of being willing to extend forgiveness towards others. (cf. Matt 18:21-35; Matt 6:14-15)

  12. A Love that Forgives • From the father's examples, the family should learn to possess the same attitude and willingness to forgive.

  13. Conclusion • Love begins with Jesus. • The husband shows the same love. • The family should grow to possess this same type of love. • willing to provide for others. • willing to make sacrifices. • willing to forgive.
