  4. Part 4 (discuss the writing) • You still give your reaction, but you can… • Confirm that the writer clearly communicated their main point • Detail what specifically you liked & compare to your own writing • Discuss the writing process • Discuss possible options for improving • Look at rubric

  5. Part 4 (discuss the writing) The COACH can say, • The message I think you are trying to give is ___. Am I right? • The one aspect of your writing that really stood out to me is ___. What is your favorite part? Why? • I really liked how you ___. I think I (did/didn’t) do that in my writing. (discuss how) • What was the toughest/easiest part of writing this paragraph? Why? • If you had to add information to a section of your writing, where would it go? What would you add? Do you think you will really add to this part or not? • Let’s look at the rubric. Where do you think you belong? What parts of your paragraph can you use to prove this?

  6. Part 4 (discuss the writing) Whether the writing is weak or lively, the goal is the same: TALK about writing!!!
