What would a graduate with cross cultural capability (CCC) know? • about their own culture and how it shapes their lives and learning • that other cultures are different and knowing something about other cultures can assist in being able to communicate effectively but also to help them understand their own culture and perspective more fully • that there are various skills, attitudes and values that can encourage effective communication across cultures • that valuing difference can be of benefit in many ways • that without cross cultural capability at every level of society – we are in trouble!   3. PepsiCo’s advertising slogan “ Come Alive with Pepsi!” in Taiwan was translated as: “ Pepsi brings your ancestors back from the dead!” International Forum

  5. When people with different backgrounds and culture collaborate, the number of ideas created jumps significantly. International Forum

What would a graduate with CCC be able to do? • communicate across cultures by being culturally sensitive, and willing to reflecting critically on a particular situation and set of circumstances • able to adapt to functioning, living and working in different cultures (countries, work environments, learning environments, social groups, communities etc) • value difference • able to see different cultural influences on and practices in their own discipline area International Forum

  7. What attitudes and values would a graduate with CCC hold? • openness • a willingness to challenge assumptions • curiosity in others and the world • respect for other people and their views International Forum
