  2. Appearance • 8-10 inches in length • Teeth are pushed together on the outside of the jaw bone, giving it a beak-like appearance • 3 phases in life: Juvenile, Initial, Terminal

  3. Eating Habits • Herbivores • Algae • Reef Organisms • Coral • After digesting they excrete a rock, which contributes to the sand at the bottom of the ocean.

  4. Living Environment • Swims 3-25 meters below the surface • Keeps close to the reefs and sandy areas • They are the cows of the coral reef. • They eat the seaweed, which prevents the seaweed from overgrowing in the reef. • Can be found in the Caribbean, South Florida, Bahamas, and the Bermudas
