  1. Women Health & Empowerment Activities by SUNDESH

  2. Menstrual health is crucial to the overall well-being of every woman. It is also amongst the most challenging development issues today, particularly in the developing world, with lack of awareness, old mindsets, customs and institutional biases preventing women from getting the menstrual health care they need. Statistics suggest that women in the unorganized sector are more susceptible to menstrual infections due to poor sanitation facilities and lack of awareness. To bridge this need gap, SUNDESH Chairperson Mrs. Indira Burman had spearheaded a special initiative on menstrual hygiene in rural india, especially for women from rural India and underprivileged sections of the society.

  3. We commenced our Woman Skill Development Centres, also known as Nari Shakti Kendras with a Cutting-Tailoring Training Centre in 1994-95, offering tailoring training to women between the age group of 15 and 35 years. Our first Cutting-Tailoring Training Centre was set up in village Shaulana. This activity has since been extended to cover several villages in the vicinity.

  4. Even after seven decades of Independence, the discrimination against girls is still rampant in India. As part of its efforts to nurture the girl child and provide her equal opportunities, SUNDESH along with Dabur India Ltd crafted an integrated programme for improving her health & nutrition, besides ensuring her safety. As the implementing partner self defence training program in Uttar Pradesh, SUNDESH has been working towards giving the girl child the right opportunities to nurture her talent and skills, and help her excel in different areas of life. The programme operates on four key pillars of: Safe and Nutritious Food Promoting Kitchen Garden Self-Defence Training Promoting Health Care

  5. Considering the special needs of rural women, SUNDESH started organising breast cancer free check upcamps with a female doctor. The programme was conducted jointly with the Centre for Agrarian Research, Training, and Education (CARTE) and Chunni Lal Medical Trust. The camps allow women to assess their risk of breast cancer and other health issues.

  6. Community Health workers are trained and skilled female workers of Sundesh at village level. The purpose of this initiative is to monitor the health status of women at village level. These health workers with the help of ASHA didi’s are not only creating awareness but also providing proper suggestion for any heath complexities of women. The health workers of Sundesh monitor maternal health program the health of pregnant ladies and encourage them to go for proper ANC checkups and follow the balance diet at the period of pregnancy. They also help Sundesh Assistance Project Coordinator for health to conduct awareness meeting for child and mother care.
