  4. Exercise 1 • Complete the following sentences: • I suppose I’m _______________. I mean, I went away to New Zealand and didn’t get in touch for twenty years. • ‘I discovered Pascal’s got a black belt in judo.’ ‘Really? He’s a bit of _______________, isn’t he?’ • My father is ______________. He never shows his feelings. • Mark doesn’t share and talk with us. I think he’s _______________. • You’re _______________. You love going to night clubs!

  5. Describing situations • If something goes to the dogs. • If you let the cat out of the bag. • If you put the cat among the pigeons.

  6. Exercise 2 • Use the idioms to rewrite the underline parts of the following sentences. • We didn’t tell anyone the news, but she told the secret and now everybody knows. • Kim’s report really created a problematic situation. Now everyone’s in a state of crisis. • The country has been in an awful condition since the new government took over.
