  1. INTRODUCING ORB-IT Oil Record Book Intelligent Tool (ORB-IT) is a web-based software application tool, designed to support and assisting the ship staff in making correct Oil Record Book entries.

INTRODUCING ORB-IT Oil Record Book Intelligent Tool (ORB-IT) is one of Blue Water's innovative marine solutions for the shipping industry which not only helps in recording and reviewing the operations carried out in the Machinery spaces but also generates reports of such operations in accordance with latest maritime regulatory requirements specified by MARPOL and MEPC guidelines. The key feature of this decision-making application is to provide ship crew with all the tools necessary for managing the oil record book log of the vessel.

  3. WHAT IS ORB-IT ORB-IT is a not electronic version of actual Oil Record book. It is software application tool as a substitute to manual calculation using paper, pen and calculator and going further extension of using spreadsheet like MS Excel where usage of incorrect formula or logic may result in incorrect result. ORB-IT’s robust logical validation and feature like approval from Master/Chief engineer helps verifying the Oil Record Book entries made by junior engineer. The interface of the software has been kept minimalistic to make crew of any nationality feel comfortable and at-ease to use ORB-IT. ORB-IT has a wizard like interface which takes user through each and every operation, thereby ensuring no operation carried out is missed out.

  4. Oil Record Book entries are first entered by the ‘User’ in the relevant operation form. Upon submitting the entry, they are checked by the software for any mathematical or clerical errors which are highlighted for the ship staff to correct. The entries after correction are stored on the system for the approval from the ‘Admin’

WHY ORB-IT EASE FOR THE SHIP STAFF: ORB-IT may serve the ship staff by substituting the manual calculations carried out by the junior engineers prior to recording actual entries in the Oil Record Book. The system may also serve to assist the Master/Chief Engineer in verifying entries made by the junior staff. The interface of the software is so designed so as to make an engineer of any nationality feel comfortable and at-ease while operating ORB-IT. REGULATORY CONFORMITY: ORB-IT conforms to MARPOL 73/78 and of Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) which is IMO's senior technical body on matters relating to marine pollution. Blue Water ensures that any changes in the Legal and Regulatory Marine Environment that affect the Oil Record Book entries are immediately incorporated into ORB-IT without any extra financial burden to the Ship Owners. COST EFFECTIVENESS: ORB-IT has been designed in an extremely cost effective manner from the operational cost view. Various Surveys conducted by us suggest that a large number of man-hours are required in writing the Oil Record Book and training personnel to do it efficiently. Presently, despite putting in so much effort in training and in being cautious while writing down ORB entries, there have been regular instances of ships and individuals being fined by authorities.

  6. ORB-IT: COST EFFECTIVE SOLUTION *The fifty hours calculated basis 10 hours working day & does not guarantee accurate entries in the ORB. ORB‐IT substantially cuts down the man‐hours required for the maintenance of Oil Record Book Entries and thus enabling ship staff to dedicate time for more critical maintenance duties, still ensuring accurate entries in the Oil Record Book. ORB‐IT safeguards the ship owner, operators and ship by assisting in making correct entries in the oil record book which is routinely inspected by port State control authorities. Ship owners, operators and crew may be criminally prosecuted and held vicariously liable with false entries in the Oil Record Book (ORB) in violation of MARPOL.
