Effective Recruiting • Finding and hiring the right person, in the right place, at the right time requires coordination between the selecting official and their Workforce Management Office servicing representative. • Finding the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities in a candidate • Knowing where to find them • Creating a process that fills the position in the most efficient matter (time to fill the position) Right Person, Right Place, Right Time: Effective Recruiting

  3. Right Person • You are looking over the resume of the person you want to hire. Think of it as the TV Game Show— Jeopardy (that is, the answers drive the questions!) • What is on that resume that makes them a highly qualified candidate? • What key knowledge, skills and abilities MUST they possess? • Do the candidates qualifications meet the requirements you are looking for? Right Place • Before posting a vacancy announcement, where should we go to find your highly qualified candidate? • In what sector are they currently employed - Academia, Private, Public, etc.? • What types of periodicals do they/MUST they read? • How do we attract them to your position?
