  18. What Happened to SureView? Previously known as SureView, the Reporting Utilities module’s focus is to assist Datatel Clients in the translation of data from Colleague into distributed information for SQL-based reporting, including ODBC access.

  19. SureView to RU • 07/31/2001 – End of Programming Support • 10/31/2001 – End of Full Tech Support • 12/31/2001 – End of Limited Tech Support • 06/01/2001 – Start of Annoying Attitude “ Both SureView and RU can be used, but it is not recommended!”

  20. RU Functions • Set up parameters and dictionaries for UniData SQL-based reporting. • Load table and view definitions, including all relevant metadata, to the Safari dictionary. • Specify and generate database SQL Views. ? • Optionally create new files as snapshots of data at a point in time, based on View specifications. • Other utilities to support using read-only SQL-based products to retrieve data from your UniData database.

  23. RU Enhancements • Moved utilities from TOOL to the UT. • All Envision applications and the Colleague run-time CDD to feed metadata for SQL-based views. (Great DVF/PFDE vrs. RDVF Debate ) • Load Safari automatically based on a parameter. • Load multiple Safari RECORDS to logically normalize the data for use in Safari Views.
