The Manhattan Landing facility serves as an interconnection point in NYC for both international and domestic research and education (R&E) networks. A partnership involving Internet2, NYSERNet, and Indiana University’s Global NOC has established this carrier-neutral, layer 2 exchange point, modeled after successful initiatives like STAR TAP and Pacific Wave. This facility features Cisco 6513 equipment with GigE and 10GE connections, offering extensive mesh capabilities for connected networks, with collocation space available to partner ISPs. The service launched in April 2003.
