Why I chose teaching Philosophy Strengths & Interests • Learning is a life long skill that never stops developing • That ah’ha moment when you know you have just learned something. • My past teachers have inspired me to get back into the classroom not only to teach history but to teach important life skills. • Personable • Creative • Enthusiastic • Appreciation of diverse learners • Making Connections

My Teaching Philosophy Behaviorist -The Goal is to take control of the classroom Managerial -Maintaining order in the classroom • State expectations clearly and consistently . • Focus on positive expectations . • Practice "positive" behavior. • Establish clear and concise consequences to eliminate inappropriate behavior, and reinforce good behavior. • Monitor student work and provide necessary feedback to encourage students to keep learning. • Maximize time on task by engaging students in a variety of learning experiences. This will prevent inappropriate behavior before it occurs. • Implement a clear set of classroom rules and procedures that are consistent and appropriate to the situation.

  5. Classroom Rules • Positive Environment • Every student has the right to come to learn in a safe classroom environment. Be respectful and polite to all students to get respect and politeness back. • Responsibility • No body will do the work for you. It is up to you to be mindful of your own work. • Come to class prepared and ready to learn that means with any books, assignments and materials needed for class. • Accountability • Be aware of your actions and how they may impact other students. • Be prepared to accept the consequences of your actions.

Classroom rules Continued • We will be polite, respectful and obey all school rules while in the classroom. • We will arrive to class on time, take a seat immediately upon entering the class. • We will do all the work assigned, give our 100% best effort at all times, and work from the beginning of the period right to the end of the period. • We will come to class with our assigned materials. • Listen to all directions and instructions given by the teacher and follow them to the best of our abilities.

  7. My PBIS Tier 1 80-90% of all students to ensure and promote universal positive academic and behavioral Instruction and prevent unwanted behavior in all students. Reduce new cases of problem behavior. Tier 2 5-10% of all students to provide immediate and specific secondary intervention for students who are at risk in the classroom. Reduce current cases of problem behavior. Tier 3 1-5% of all students that is intense and specific to the actions of that individual student. Reduce complication and intensity of current problem behavior
