  2. Success Tip for Eating for Less Keys to Successfully eating healthy on a budget • Decide and commit to the change • What you should and should not eat…for example eliminating junk food • Set your budget • Plan your meals and shopping lists ahead

Eating for Less At Home • Drink water; buy a filter • Decide to do away with the junk food…sodas, cookies, cakes, chips • Cook your own meals • Leftovers save time and money In the Grocery Store • Use coupons only if it provides you with the cheapest option • Buy Frozen veggies and fruit • Go Generic • Look High and Low for cheapest prices • Buy what’s on sale and in season • Don’t get caught up in the hype but in the right…right portions and right options. Organics and sugar free isn’t always right.. • Buy unprocessed, uncut, uncooked…ie. Cheese, cabbage, carrots, and freeze

  4. Eating for Less Bulk Buying at Sams or Cosco • buy membership with friend • Buy frozen veggies & fruits • Buy in bulk unprocessed, uncut, uncooked…ie. Cheese, cabbage, carrots, and freeze to prevent spoilage or wasting food • Buy healthy snacks in bulk like nuts or dried fruit…make your own trail mix Farmers Market or personal gardens • Great way to get REAL organic food for much less Food bank • Great opportunity to receive healthy items for free

Getting Fit for Less Gym memberships – Compare and look for discounts for affiliations with your job, bank, credit unions or even insurance companies like AAA or statefarm • Join in the spring and summer months (May – Sept) at the end of the month • Look into family and student discounts. • See if your health insurance offers discounted gym fees. • Personal Training • Take advantage of discount deals online on groupon.com or living social • DVD Workouts – works for time and budget. Buy used on ebay or Craigslist or even borrow from a friend or even rent from the library

Getting Fit for Less View free workouts online like YouTube or on subscriptions channels like Netflix or Amazon.com • Purchase/Rent new or used workout books • Simply become more active by walking , running, swimming or biking & make if fun • Participate in fund raising walking events like the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer walk • Get a fitness buddy to take walks in the park, mall etc. Partner may even be your kids • Do the 100s (this is from my husband) every day decide to do 100 jumping jacks, 100 push ups, situps, running and walking…try doing this between tv commercials or during a break at work
