  1. STAR Update Run 11February 25, 2011 Stephen Trentalange for the STAR Collaboration

  2. Run 11 Projections Reminder L~3.5 pb-1 up to day 52 (2/21/11) (10 days total) Barrel Sampled Luminosity ~ 3.5 pb-1 FMS Sampled Luminosity ~ 1.5-2.0 pb-1

  3. Run 11 Goals Reminder Run 11 Projections Run 9 PRL

  4. Detector Performance Good tracks with PT>1 GeV TPC Uniformity

  5. W Algorithm Reminder 4x4 2x2 Jet-like W-like TPC track extrapolated to Barrel Calorimeter W-like All plots are from Run 11 data up to day 52 (2/21/11) (10 days total) Jet-like 5

  6. Ws in the Barrel: Up to day 52 (2/21/11) of Run 11 385K L2BW triggers ~100 Ws so far…..

  7. ~2% of events now ~15% at end of Run 11

  8. Justin Stevens Status of Run 11 W Analysis 8

  9. Summary • The W stream data is being produced “on the cloud” at NERSC with a delay of ~1 day from the time events are recorded • Initial results with L~3.5 pb-1 look good (we see Jacobian peak) • We’re looking forward to increased luminosity and the switch to longitudinal polarization to achieve W AL projections • Thanks to the STAR and Magellan Grid/Cloud teams for making “real time” production possible:Jerome Lauret Dmitry (BNL), Iwona Sakreda, Doug Olson (NERSC)

  10. FMS Status • New triggers this year: • Board Sums • Jet Patches • Require PMT gains which vary approximately as ET rather than E as in previous years. • Response of detector more uniform.

  11. Large Cell Ideal Gains Large Cell Gain Correction Factors Large Cell Ideal Gains

  12. Small Cell Ideal Gains Small Cell Ideal Gains

  13. Cluster of tracks within angle (.06) • 15GeV< Epair<55 GeV • Z < 0.7 3.0 < Y < 3.4 3.8 < Y < 4.2 2.6 < 3.0 3.4 < Y < 3.8 2 Photon Mass 2 Photon Mass

  14. Pi0 and Eta Meson peaks at higher Energy • Two Photon Events • 3.46 < Y < 3.85 • Z < 0.7 100GeV <Epair < 120 GeV 60GeV <Epair < 80 GeV 80GeV <Epair < 100 GeV 40GeV <Epair < 60 GeV 2 Photon Mass 2 Photon Mass 2 Photon Mass 2 Photon Mass

  15. Summary of FMS • The FMS/FPE taking data since Feb 19 • New gain profile/triggers working as planned • Analysis of ~1.0 /pb of data shows good pion/eta signals • Performance will improve with offline gain calibrations, LED corrections • Tuning trigger mix to cover kinematic ranges with optimum statistics • No estimate yet as to exact date for transverse to longitudinal running: Goal is >20/pb? sampled…we are currently at ~2/pb
