  1. Eek! How do I spend my ‘A account’ money!? A handy guide to spending all your ‘A account’ money. Don’t panic, it’s really easy. I promise.

  2. What can I spend it on? Anything which meets your society’s aims and objectives Or… Is essential to your society Or… Benefits all your members directly or indirectly Or… Campaigns on issues which are about students or educating your members Things like… • Travel expenses for your members or guests • Fees for guest speakers • Publicity (including for social events as they also advertise your society!) • Membership cards • Room hire • Teachers • Any reasonably priced equipment which the Activities Information Point doesn’t have • Stationary & stamps etc • Conference costs for society representatives • Competition entry fees • Affiliation fees to bigger organisations • Magazine subscription • Campaign materials for a student issue or to educate your members about wider issues • Food for cultural education but only if a Union Officer says you can. The list goes on…and on…and on…

  3. What can’t I spend it on? Not social stuff Or… Non-essential stuff like food and drink Or… Stuff that doesn’t benefit the society as a whole Or… Campaigns which are not about students and aren’t for the education of your members Or… Charity donations Things like… • End of year balls • Intramural sport leagues • Personal equipment for one member • Bar crawls and other socials (except publicity which you can pay for) • Food and drink (unless for the cultural education part) • Campaigns which have nothing to do with students That’s about it…Please ask though! activities@shef.ac.uk 0114 2228620

If you get the ‘Stash my dosh’ form from the Activities Information Point in before the reclaim date, we’ll ring fence the money for you until the 1st July. Q: Eek! I won’t be charged for something I’m ordering this year until after 1st July!? A: Don’t panic, you’ll just need to see the Activities Officer about arranging to keep that bit of money for next year.
