  4. Religion 99 percent of Turkey’s population is Muslim The other 1% is mostly Christian and Jewish Muslim Women Muslim Children

Holidays On April 23rd is National Sovereignty and Children’s Day On May 1st is Labor and Solidarity day (Added in 2009) On May 19th is Ataturk Commemoration and Youth Sports Day (Arrival of Ataturk in Samsun, and the beginning of the War of independence On August 13th is Victory Day (Celebrating victory over invading forces in 1922)

Also known as RamazanBayrami KurbanBayrami is a four day festival when sheep are slaughtered and given to the poor The dates of the two last holidays change according to the Islamic calendar. For this reason the holidays occur 10-11 days earlier each year

  9. Turkish food Turkish food is a combination of Middle Eastern, Central Asian, and Balkan foods. For breakfast, bread is the main food in a dish. It can also include olives, cheese, butter, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggs, and green peppers. Cooking at home is common for Turkish people. Soup is a main dish eaten in the winter Yogurt is an important food in Turkish foods

  12. Sports Turkey’s most popular sport is soccer Other sports such as basketball and volleyball are also popular A traditional sport is oiled wrestling Turkey’s soccer team
