  3. Think-Pair-Share What happens in “Big Joe’s Funeral”? What happens in “Angela’s Eyes?” What topics or subjects do these two stories have in common?

  4. Of the following three themes, which one best represents a possible theme in “Big Joe’s Funeral”? Funerals are sad occasions. It is important to enjoy life, because it’s too late when you’re dead. It is important to be well liked, so that people will speak well of you at your funeral.

  5. Theme Could there be more than one theme in a story? In “Angela’s Eyes,” the topic of death is also present. Which of these themes do you think best describes “Angela’s Eyes”? People are afraid of dying. Losing someone important to you can be very painful and sad. People love to gossip.
