Stem-changing verbs • In Spanish, some verbs have a stem change in the present tense. • Stem-changing verbs have regular-ar,-er & -ir present tense endings. • Stem-changing verbs e-ie. Direct Object Pronouns • Remember direct object receives the action of the verb. • They answer the question whom or what? about the verb. • What is the direct object? • I sell the book. • You want the shirts. • He buys the red skirt. • We visit her. • They have a cat.
Direct object pronouns • Direct object pronouns can be used to replace the direct object nouns. • Change the direct object with the direct object pronoun. • I sell the book. • You want the shirts. • He buy the red skirt. • We visit her. • They have a cat.
Direct object pronouns • me (me) nos (us) • te (you) os (you pl) • lo (you,him,it) los (you pl, them) • la (you, her,it) las (you pl, them) • The direct object pronoun is placed before the conjugated verb. • Yoquiero el agua. Yoloquiero.
Direct object pronoun • When an infinitive follows the conjugated verb, the direct object pronoun can be placed before the conjugated verb or attached to the infinitive. • Yoloquierocomprar. (book) • Yoquierocomprarlo. (book)
