  5. Process for Incorporating Ideas • Workshops (May 7 – June 17) • 4 workshops with over 250 participants • Meetings • Public and one on one meetings with key stakeholders (Aboriginal Nations, City, Community Association) • Online • PlaceSpeak (1000), Dockside Blog, Twitter

  6. Design Team • User-centred design/ co-creation • Listen, ideate, present, discuss, iterate, present, discuss, iterate, etc. • A collaborative process between developer, design team and citizens with most of the big ideas incorporated into the design.

  7. What Did We Hear? • Understand the Edges • roads, waterfront, shipyard, bridge • Take a Holistic, Community-wide View • What assets/ opportunities exist throughout Vic West? Victoria? How do we link, connect and build on each other’s strengths?

  8. What Did We Hear? • Inclusive opportunities to live, play and work. • Affordable housing, commercial and recreational spaces that work for diverse groups. • More support for residents to share and connect • Where do residents meet, convene and make together?

  9. What Did We Hear? • There are much needed services & amenities • Shopping, parking, recreation, transportation • We need celebratory/ gathering spaces that can work all year round.

  10. What Did We Hear? • There are more spaces needed to showcase local creativity, knowledge and innovation. • Sustainability – in all its forms – is core to the success of this placemaking exercise.
