Understanding the ACA Implementation for University System of Georgia Employers

Starting January 2015, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) mandates health insurance offerings for employees working over 30 hours weekly. The University System of Georgia must comply with these regulations, including new rules for temporary employees. The hours for benefits eligibility have changed to a total of 1,300 in a 12-month period, with a specific transition period established. Employers must identify Transition Period employees, create individual plans, and manage hours effectively. Continuous discussions for clarification and effective data tracking and reporting systems are vital for compliance.
