History • Club founded in 1908; team first played at Clarence Park in 1908/9 season (an integral part of the City) • 1922 Main stand built • 1948 Clubhouse (now Saints Bar) constructed • 1959 Railway sleepers replaced by concrete terracing on three sides of the ground • 1962 Cantilever stand erected • 1963 Floodlights installed • 1999 Metal fencing erected

Current situation – outdated facilities • No separate dressing rooms for female officials • Treatment room not accessible directly from both dressing rooms • Away dressing room only just complies with the minimum size • Problems re accessibility to the terraces, main stand, board room and clubhouse for disabled supporters, sponsors and officials • Toilet and disabled facilities barely at minimum standards • No parking for visitors or the disabled • Facilities not appropriate for playing two leagues up

  8. Current situation - finances • Losing money year-on-year • Not sustainable • Revenues not sufficient for day-to-day operations • Revenues not sufficient for club’s aspirations • Marginal revenues from non-football activities • Marginal revenues from retail sales or leisure activities

Our vision • Build a sustainable, modern and successful football club • Revenues from non-football related sources to benefit the wider community • St Albans City FC as a key anchor in community sport • To establish St Albans City as a football league club • To give an aspirational pathway for local talented young footballers • To provide local job opportunities within and outside sport (grounds/hospitality/PR/Marketing)

Our vision • Club encouraging youth into football (boys and girls) • Offering football as part of disability sport facilities • Full engagement with local residents and businesses • Part of the Council’s City Vision for the future • Successful club attracting new visitors and supporters to the City • An integral part of the wider visitor experience; links to other attractions e.g. Butterfly World, Cathedral, city centre

What the club needs • Significant capital investment • New facilities for retail sales • New facilities for team development • Appropriate facilities for the disabled • Modern facilities for hospitality, supporters and visitors • Facilities to develop elite youth players • External training facilities • Location of stadium – Clarence Park or elsewhere?
